SAAB - The Unknown Power House
Rose Engineering first got a hold of one of these very unique and interesting cars in 1990.
A 1988 N/A SAAB 900, and yes we're knowing what you SAAB enthusiats out there are thinking right now, faces cringing etc, but this car started it all off and gave us enough ammo to go on from there ...
Learning how the cars work to finding and sourcing performnace products to suit these cars, and yes all available from businesses and companies within our unique sunburnt country ... Aussies will give anything a go!
At present we have a 1986 SAAB 900 AERO on our hands and great things are expected from this car ... with a spare complete B202 block in the workshop, it was only a matter of time before we started to think and ponder 'i wonder what you can REALLY do with these things' ... so pondering no more we're getting stuck into it ...
Research on components will always pays dividends. Talking to various people that are more then willing to help out and supply information have all said that 400-500HP is more then feasible.
The stock manual transmission will not cope with this sort of power output and torque, so a straight cut performance gear set is needed (commonly known as a dog box). The good people at Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes
SAAB turbo cars produce alot of useable TORQUE, so HP (HorsePower) is not really an issue ... Horsepower is nothing, without torque (or the catapulting action from a stand still). Needless to say HP will automatically follow on from this.
